Myth 1. The tankless water heaters are extremely expensive.

Not at all! First of all, switch to tankless water heater because the normal water heaters are much less efficient and less economical than the tankless water heaters. Apart from that, you will regularly run out of hot water supply while using the normal water heaters.

The tankless water heaters might cost a bit more, but you will get a lot of features, much better energy-efficiency, an unlimited hot water supply, and lifespan of tankless water heater, whenever you need it. You won’t have to wait for a long time to get the tank heated before you can take a bath. They have a much better lifespan and storage.

Myth 2. The tankless water heaters need a complicated venting system

This is absolutely not true. Yes, you will need adequate ventilation while installing the tankless water heater, but it is also possible to install it on the exterior of the property so that it doesn’t need any ventilation.

Thus, you can always switch to tankless water heater. The tankless water heater is just perfect for the houses where there is less space. Even if you don’t have a basement, it won’t be a difficult task to use the tankless water heater because it can be hung in a mechanical area which is close to the HVAC condenser.

However, you may need a bit of planning to install it before switching to tankless water heater, but that is not as complicated as a lot of people would say. All you need is a simple venting system through the wall with a cheap PVC piping and a concentric vent, that’s all.

Myth 3. Tankless water heaters need a natural gas

There are some tankless water heaters which are fueled by natural gas, but you will also find a lot of tankless water heaters which are run by propane. But the propane run water heaters are less in number. Still, after switching to tankless water heater, you will see that the propane run tankless water heaters are much better than having 2-3 electric powered tanks in your home.

It saves a lot of power and this is a very good alternative to the having 2-3 electrically powered tanks in your home. Another benefit is it will also help you save a lot of space in your room or your garage. This is a great feature if you are living on a small property.

Myth 4. Tankless water heaters need thermostat temperature to be set at 120 degrees or higher

A lot of people believe that the tankless water heaters need to be set at a minimum temperature of 120 degrees Fahrenheit to get the best results. But that is not how the tankless water heaters work at all. In fact, a lot of manufacturers pre-set the thermostats of these water tanks to 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit to enhance the tankless water heater life span.

Remember that, setting the thermostat temperature to 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit is totally up to you. It is NOT a necessity. In fact, the opposite is true. If you want to reduce enhance the energy efficiency and the savings, you need to turn down the thermostat. This will help you in reducing the power consumption and cut down the electricity bills.

The tankless water heater life span will offer you an unlimited supply of hot water, so you are never going to run out of hot water. Thus, you can turn off the thermostat or set the thermostat to your desired temperature.

Myth 5. Tankless water heaters do not work well with water

This is also not true. To keep the lifespan of tankless water heater maintained and the heater functioning optimally, you need to flush it from time to time because scale starts to deposit on the heat exchanger during the heating time. If there is hard water in your home, more scale will deposit. But there are no issues with city water and well water too. So, you can use tankless water heaters in both cities and rural areas.
